Real Estate

Written by Sonny Quinn

I’m in the real estate biz and I think that New York is one of the few markets left where you can actually make money doing this. There are so many great buildings out there that just need fixing up a little bit and it won’t take me long to have my fourth place in Brooklyn underway. I have a couple of great contractors which really helps and I also have wireless internet Brooklyn so I can get online and look up materials and whatnot whenever I need to. I think there’s something to be said for knowing what you’re good at and I’m really, really good at renovating old homes but I don’t know that I’d be as good at it anywhere else. Living in New York your whole life makes things totally different from your perspective and you know what people are looking for when they get a condo. It’s not space people want here, it’s character and all kinds of organizational possibilities…that’s the best I can offer my buyers.

Identity Theft Can Cost You

If you don't think that you have to worry about identity theft protection, you should think twice.

When someone steals your identity, they can wreak havoc on your life. All it takes is one piece of any of your information for an identity thief to find the rest of your information and use it to pretend to be you. They can order merchandise in your name and leave you stuck with the bill, which can cost you anywhere from $1 and above.

IdentityHawk is an identity theft protection service and they list the biggest data breaches and here is one:

TJX Companies: 2006
In December 2006, retailer TJX Company, owner of HomeSense, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and others, notified police that hackers stole more than 45 million customer records in 2003 and 2004. TJX told the public about the breaches the following month and spent more than $20 million dealing with the security breach.

Picking up the pieces from the fallout after someone steals your identity can take years, and once you have been targeted you will never be able to let your guard down again. The best way to protect yourself from identity theft is to take preventative measures and monitor your financial identity on a regular basis. IdentityHawk was created to help consumers safeguard their assets, their properties, and their good names. IdentityHawk members can view the health of their identity protection, identify areas where they're most at risk, and take proactive steps to reduce those risks.

Penny Stocks

Penny Stocks are a great way to begin investing in stocks without having to take out a second mortgage on your house.

Penny stocks are "common shares of small public companies that trade at less than $1.00" and sound appealing to newbie investors looking to break into the stock market. There are many concerns surrounding the purchase of penny stocks, including 'low liquidity' which makes it difficult to sell your shares. In other words, you won't spend much when you buy into penny stocks, but you won't make much on selling your shares either.

The real appeal in penny stocks is when you invest into hot stocks with rapid growth. Buying shares of a company at rock-bottom prices can reap a large return when the company expands quickly and maintains their growth long term. The best penny stocks to look for are with companies that offer long term potential for regular, rapid growth.

Your Financial Estate

Gay girls have special needs when it comes to their financial estate, and depending on your location there are a whole list of issues that can come up when it's time to settle your estate.

When it comes to your estate, the priority should be to maintain as much of your assets as possible, while limiting your liabilities and taxes. This is where estate law becomes a factor and the politics of the who, why, and how of your estate can overwhelm you. Local estate lawyers can help you navigate the system according to the size of your estate, and to find one you would simply need to run a Google search on the term with the name of your city. For example you would type in "estate lawyer barrie" if you lived in Barrie.

There is a page on Wikipedia with more information on estate law at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estate_(law) where you will find more information about the different types of estate that there are such as a 'life estate' (which extinguishes "at the death of the holder"). You can also find out more about estate taxes on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inheritance_tax where you will learn about the taxes your beneficiaries will pay when you pass away.

Thinking about your financial estate is extremely important so be sure to make it a point to do your research and learn about how you can minimize your taxes and limit your liabilities for those who inherit your estate.

Deal Searching

Guest post from: Jerald Hammond

On the internet you can really get deals on everything.

I have found some great Cable Deals, which I didn’t expect. I always thought I could buy items online, but I never thought about buying services there too. I shop online a lot, and have found some really awesome prices on everything from shoes to picture frames. I find it harder and harder every day to shop in stores. I always find myself wondering if I could find the item I’m considering buying for a better price online. I downloaded this app on my phone called RedLaser that searches online and in local stores for the best prices on items. It’s awesome because now I can be pretty sure that I’m getting the best deal when I decide to purchase things. My friends have even started saying I’m obsessed with finding the best prices on things. I really don’t care if my constant search for the best deal annoys them, because I’m saving tons of cash! I’ll make sure I laugh all the way to the bank. They can keep on spending their money on overpriced things if they want, but I’ll keep on doing things my way.

It Pays to Know About UGC

UGC is short for 'user generated content' which is any type of content created by the users of a website rather than the owners of the website.

If you have no idea what user generated content is, then you could be one of the many people who find themselves in need of a technology lawyer after posting a picture or video online, or any other type of content such as a blog or podcast. As technology becomes a larger part of our lives, more people are subject to the laws of online content even though they may have no idea what that means.

Content is basically the images, words, sounds, and videos that are displayed on any given website. The article you are reading right now is written content, and whenever you write or post something onto a website from your computer you are creating content. Because you are the user of the website, you are creating user generated content which comes along with it's own set of rules to follow.

First of all you must own the rights to any content that you display as your own work. Any photos, videos, or text that you create are rightfully yours; but you will want to be sure to check the copyright status of any other photos or videos that you may use including audio. There are sites online where you can buy the rights to use someone else's photos, videos, and audio such as Graphic River and Audio Jungle.

For more information on UGC before you create content online, you can visit Wikipedia and avoid the need for litigation and/or financial settlements by brushing up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User-generated_content

Water damage can occur from any variety of situations, and when it happens there can be little that you can do to protect your wallet from the fallout.

Most of the time damage from flooding in your home or apartment is covered by insurance, although many times there are priceless items which are damaged beyond repair. Outright for Small Business Accounting

Small business accounting can be a major headache if you are not organized.

Unfortunately for me, I feel like I simply don't have the time to keep all of my paperwork organized; especially with technology changing every day. I feel like I have data piling up online plus on my actual desk. Sometimes I shake my head when I find an old post-it with a key note that I jotted down and lost track of. Now I'm looking into Outright.com for business bookkeeping services because they offer a free service to help consolidate my small business accounting with user friendly finance software.

Outright offers a premium service for a small fee for those who wish to upgrade, but the basic service is FREE which is perfect for people like me who are trying to keep a small business afloat in the current global economy.

Most of the software I've tried in the past wasn't in my budget, so I'm excited to give Outright a try and thought I would let other lesbian small business owners know about this in case they are on a budget like I am. You can find the main site at www.outright.com.
